ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Dr. Vikram Vaka is a clinical psychiatrist, unit director, and research chair at America's second oldest and longest running psychiatric hospitals. He is certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He has extensive experience teaching and supervising medical and pharmacy students and residents at Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University. He also has two decades of experience treating veterans with PTSD, adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Major Depression or Anxiety utilizing psychotherapy and pharmacology. He currently treats people hospitalized due to illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Antisocial Personality Disorders, Bipolar Disorder and Substance Use Disorders. He previously worked as Co-Chief Resident at the University of Florida, and worked as Assistant Professor at several universities including the Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Sujasha Gupta Vaka has a multidisciplinary background that includes a Master's in Materials Engineering from the University of Florida, a Mechanical Engineering Ph.D from the Ohio State University (OSU), and a Postdoctorate in Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. She is a neuroscientist by practice and an engineer by training, currently working for SWORD as a DARPA contractor. She helped develop and utilize multiple cutting edge techniques to collect information about the brain, and to analyze the brain at the Ohio State University, during her research at the Johns Hopkins University, her work in the private sector, and most recently working for the US military at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital.
Vivaan Vaka served as a spiritual advisor.
