The Last Algorithm: Maps, Minds, and Monads

Part I: Minds as Indivisible Monads or Emergent From Interconnected Mathematical Algorithms

Chapter 1: Maps, Monads and Mathematics

  • Definition of Maps, Monads & Algorithms

  • Sujasha's map of the world and the map’s evolution along her journey from theist to determinist, first as a student of hinduism, second as a student of fluids, materials and mechanics, third as a neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins University, and finally as a DARPA researcher for the US military on SWORD - studying trauma, the brain's internal self cleaning mechanisms (well aligned with penrose’s theories about the behavior and role of microtubules) and developing algorithms to measure and map glymphatic flow during sleep.

  • Vikram's map of people and the map’s evolution along his journey from a determinist to a theist, first as a student of programming, physics, mathematics and behavioral psychology, second as a medical resident at the University of Florida studying autism spectrum disorder and intrigued by the goldilocks constants, the presence of digital error-correction algorithms within fundamental physical laws, the alignment of planck’s constant, the double-slit experiment, relativistic speed limits and wave-particle duality as evidence of pixelation and preprogrammed rendering limits.

  • The current map was heavily shaped by my work as a psychiatrist and therapist at various universities and state hospitals treating severe mental illnesses. Recently, my interest in both physics and in computer algorithms were rekindled by the 2022 Nobel Prize research proving the nonlocality of reality, by the holographic principle, wholeness and the implicate order (monad framework), as well as by the Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser Experiment and it’s alignment with the frustrum culling algorithms that are required to enable complex world simulations in videogames with multiple players/observors.

Chapter 2: The Mind thru the Two Maps

  • The Science/Math Map = Subtrate & Mechanics Map (The Null Hypothesis in a Nutshell)

  • The Spiritual/Monad Map = The Soul & Mind Map (Psychiatry/Psychology/Philosophy in a Nutshell)

  • How any attempts to integrate the two maps (whether top down or bottom up) both lead to innumerable paradoxes and no scientifically compatible explanation for consciousness. Both views end either as indivisible monads (Indra’s Net Fractals) or as an inexplicable ingressing emergent property of interconnected neural networks and the algorithms that navigate them. The multitude of paradoxes in both cutting edge physics/quantum research and in cutting-edge neuroscience research indicate there is atleast one additional layer/dimension above what we generally perceive. The irreconcilable paradox indicate that the current null hypothesis should be rejected and alternate hypotheses that aligns with nonlocal reality and resolves the delayed choice paradox be sought out. But first, the paradoxes.

Chapter 3: The Mind as a Computer

  • Hardware/software analogy of brain and mind - The current null hypothesis

  • Mapping psychiatric disorders to recursive if then loops, misaligned algorithms, and input errors

  • Neurodevelopment with age, consciousness expansion, default mode network, neural pruning

  • Various mass market presentations of mental illness versus a more evidence based explanation

Chapter 4: Maps of Madness - Navigating Psychiatry

  • Various “maps”: Freudian, CBT, DBT, DSM, neurobiological models

  • Experiences with Terminal Lucidity, NDEs, Acquired Savant Syndrome, the paradox of the Default Mode Network and less fmri brain activity paradoxically correlating both with far more richly detailed and meaningful experiences and with much lower rates of relapse in Johns Hopkins Psychedelics as Addiction Treatment experiments.

  • Explanation of Reciever Theory. Experiences treating dopamine induced psychosis in people with Parkinson's, the Nicotine paradox: decreased Parkinson’s, increased Alzheimer’s and how personal experiences helping adults with severe autism and developmental disabilities further informed this theory.

Part II: Mind Machines – Integrating Psychiatry & Cognitive Algorithms

Chapter 5: Automatic Algorithms governing Thoughts, Emotions, Behaviors & Alignment with 4000-year-old wisdom

  • Automatic thoughts as default scripts

  • Survival, security, belonging as needs-based logic trees

  • Alignment with the Gita - "While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises. From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool." CBT as reprogramming logic loops

  • The Bhagavad Gita as a psychological and spiritual manual for navigating life and becoming actualized. Reframing the concepts of the Gita along the Maslow’s Hierarchy, the Schwartz Value Wheel, Developmental Stages & Intrinsic Temperaments.

  • Radical Acceptance - “Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities…” there is much you do not understand about the illusion/play that is life and how it will ultimately play out. There is meaning and growth to be found even from loss, forego regret and seek a new path if neccesary. You cannot expect even your most sincere actions to bear sweet fruit within your lifetime or within your field of view. You cannot change the past, and you have no idea how/and no control over how the future will actually play out in the longterm. Instead of tieing up your attention and energy ruminating on the past or anxiously fearing the future, learn to accept them as things you cannot change and instead focus on and live in the present.

Chapter 6: Subconscious Drives, Self Deceptions & Maslow's Needs

  • Framing OCD, mood disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD etc as logic and sensory errors shaped by gradient descent.

  • Goal-setting for healing: restoring hierarchy of needs and finding productive ways to conquer these needs in order to self-actualize. "For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his very mind will remain the greatest enemy."

  • Outlining Freud’s subconscious mechanisms vs. Maslow’s conscious ones

  • Illuminating how Maslows Conscious Needs influence which Subconscious Defense Mechanisms we most readily employ and how these mechanisms influence our unmet needs in a recursive strange feedback loop.

  • Demonstrating how one element of consciousness emerges from this strange loop utilizing GED.

Chapter 7: The Wisdom of the Bhagvat Maslow Protocol at Scale

  • Reframing the arc of human progress and through Maslow’s hierarchy and correlating high rates of self-actualization with human progress.

  • Faith, Optimism & Drawing Strength from our Inter-connectedness - "The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind." There is far more to you than your physical body or your current life.

  • Dramatic progress as an emergent property of partially self actualized components of our Multi-Conscious Organism utilizing Scientific Method and Specialization Algorithms

  • Recent global setbacks from worsening tribal divisions leading to multitudes of Multi-Conscious Organisms fighting each other rather than working together

  • A shared purpose - Systemic improvements to make life fulfilling and fun.

Chapter 8: Automated Healing

  • Survival → Security → Belonging → Esteem → Actualization → Transcendence

  • Automation to meet bottom tiers

  • The Last Algorithms emergent patterns, ie Cheat Codes/Cognitive Techniques we can use to more optimally navigate our lives and our minds.

  • Cheat Code/Cognitive Technique 1 - Gratitude (Gratitude Journal)

Write down your strengths, skills, and what you already have. Read them every morning, add to them and find ways to strengthen your skills. This literally rewires your brain’s threat and reward systems.

  • Cheat Code 2 - Presence/Mindfulness (Dialectical Meditation)

Start simple, use Box Breathing to regain control when emotions feel overwhelming. This trains your nervous system to stop fighting the present moment and start using it.

  • Cheat Code 3 - Optimism (Catch the ANT to Trust the Universe)

This isn’t blind positivity; there are excellent reasons to trust the universe from the perspective of every major theory of reality supported by scientific evidence.

Journaling any automatic negative thoughts (ANT) you catch yourself thinking is an easy first step along a CBT path that will fundamentally improve your worldview.

Research also shows that adopting an optimistic worldview increases the likelihood of reaching goals, and also increases lifespan, healthspan, cognitive flexibility, problem-solving ability, and emotional resilience. This is the reason that the Placebo Effect is statistically more effective than most treatments.

Optimism works and it also makes life a game worth playing. So lets take the steps outlined above to stop wasting cognitive bandwidth on things that do not matter and instead use it to build a better world.

  • These Three Simple Cheat Codes/Techniques can make effort feel effortless, pain feel painless, and the impossible possible. And they are just the tip of the iceberg, the first step on a path of emergent cognitive and situational flexibility.

  • Cheat Code VVVV: The Last Algorithm’s Emergent Most Powerful Cheat Code/Cognitive Technique - Bayesian Inference, the real foundation of humanity’s progress.
